T -TIME, AN INTRODUCTION TO COLD PORCELAIN CRAFTS

Hello friends, Welcome to T-Time with me Ramya. Today am going to give you an introduction about cold porcelain crafts. Actually I was looking for a substitute to polymer clay as I was little hesitant about baking. While I was searching for the various types of clay that can be used for making clay murals came across this wonderful world of cold porcelain crafts and hence sharing with you all today. ( picture heavy post!!!!)

Difference between polymer clay and cold porcelain clay:
  1. Unlike polymer clay ,cold porcelain doesn't need an oven to bake. It air dries hard.
  2. We can add paint while kneading and make different colours of clay or paint after finishing the work.
  3. Very soft , so easy to knead and it doesn't crack.
  4. Upon drying it gives a matte finish and has little glaze.
  5. Cold porcelain tends to shrink a little from original after drying.
  6. This clay can be used by kids  ( if the glue used is non-toxic)
  7. And most important thing IT CAN BE MADE AT HOME WITH LESS COST
RECIPE FOR MAKING COLD PORCELAIN CLAY AT HOME:
Materials needed:
1 cup corn starch powder
1 cup white glue
2 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice
2 tbsp of cooking oil
Procedure:
Mix all the ingredients such that no lumps are formed. Then microwave it for 15 sec for about 7 -8 intervals. You can also mix it in tava and heat in gas. After each interval take the mixture out and stir well. After 7 or 8 intervals the mixture becomes solid  and it wont stick to the vessel. At this point take it out and knead it well by applying lotion in hands for about 10 min. Then wrap it in a polythene cover and refrigerate it in an air tight container for 24 hours.   I have attached the link of the video tutorial which I followed.

Some of the crafts that can be made using Cold porcelain:

1. 3D MINIATURES:

I have made a choco-vanilla cake using cold porcelain. Here is the procedure to make the cake :

Take a small ball of cold porcelain clay. To add colours to the clay while kneading I have used oil colours.

After drying touch up with acrylic paints to get a neat finish.

2. COLD PORCELAIN JEWELLERY

Like polymer clay cold porcelain can be used for jewellery making. Here is the procedure:

Take a small amount of cold porcelain clay and add black oil paint and knead it well. Then roll it flat and place the design template over it and cut using a pen knife.

Make a cylinder with red colour clay and chop them into equal parts. Shape them into petals and glue them on the black pendant already cut.

3. 3D MURAL MAKING:
I have chosen a simple design of Ganesha as this is my first attempt in making a cold porcelain mural. Here goes the procedure.

I had some wooden piece samples at my home so I decided to use their backside as the base for the mural.

I painted the murals using acrylic colours and applied 2 coats of varnish.

Using cold porcelain you can make different kinds of flowers and embellishments for scrap -booking.  As you can see the possibilities are endless and it is a world in itself.

Hope I have inspired you all to learn something new this year.Thank you for patiently going through my post.  Awaiting your comments and feedback.

CSCC #10 - Make Me Happy!

Hello friends! This is Deepti and I wish you all the 'CSCC' fans/players a very happy and a blessed New Year 2015. :)
This month we are playing with the keyword 'HAPPY', where you can make/create paper projects incorporating the word 'happy' in any form on your card.. Today I'm sharing two simple cards and also I'm sharing a photo tutorial with a little bit of technique involved!

So here is the first one!

This is a very simple one layer card and infact anybody can create this type of cards only if you know how to draw curved lines.. ;)

So first I started off by drawing the curved lines with a black permanent marker.

And now it's time for some coloring!! Today I'm using 'Faber Castell Connector pens to water color the images.

I scribbled all the colors on an acrylic block and I'm using 'Koi water brush' to color in my images.
These FC pens are really very vibrant when you work directly on a piece of paper but when you add a little bit water to it they give you a pastel shade. but adding more and more color with less water will give you the best result I guess.. ;) try it once and give me the feed back! ;)

I always end up with a messed sentiment and I really don't know why.. :(
but don't worry I know how to fix it!! :D

Look! How I fixed it!! ;)

And here is the finished card.. Oh yeah! I added a bit of glitter to glam up the things!

Very simple and easy card and making it is SO much fun.. ;)

Well.. here is the second one!

This card is also pretty simple one..

To create the sky I used the blue FC pen again and followed the same watercoloring procedure

Stamped the hot air balloon and colored it with grey marker.. And the sentiment was hand written..

So here is the finished one.. :)

Hope you like these two cards and got a little inspired to create something for the current challenge

Thank you and See you soon.. :)

"MAKE ME HAPPY".

4. Have fun.. ;)

And the winner will receive a gift voucher of Rs.500/- from 'The Craft Shop'.

Thank you Priya!! :)

For this challenge I have made an easel drawer card with the sentiment Happy new year. This is my first attempt in making an easel card.  I have made a 6*6 card.

I have used brown card stock from recollections to make the base of the card. Upon that I have  stuck pattern papers from recollections and DCWV paper pack.

Since its a new year card I have used a monthly calendar in the front panel of the card. Decorated it using handmade flowers, bow and lace.

I made an extension to the front panel by adding a clock and a tag with quote. The sentiments and quotes are printed .

For the bottom part of the easel I have used an inspirational quote and handmade rose flowers.  I made the handle of the drawer using brown card stock and stuck pearls at its sides. Inside the drawer is a cute notepad ( sticky notes) having some cool to-do's at its front page.

Hope you like my card!! Come back soon for more inspiration from our talented catchy girls. Do participate in the challenge and have fun. Be happy and make others happy!!!
